We provide a safe and secure place where you can talk freely one to one to a trained counsellor and be listened to without being judged.
It is somewhere you can express your true feelings about what has happened in your life and be accepted for who you are.
You can expect your counsellor to be honest and open, respectful of your values and genuinely accepting of your choices and decisions.
Counselling can empower you to discover strengths and personal resources that will help you move forward and take control of your life.
Your counsellor will be there to support you through the challenging process of change.
The session will normally last for about 50 minutes and is a chance for you to get to know your counsellor, find out about the service, and ask any questions you may have.
We know that for many people coming to counselling for the first time can be extremely frightening and you can be assured that our counsellors will try to reassure you and make the process as easy as possible. At the end of this session you can decide if you feel the Moving On service is for you.
If you would like to continue further appointments will be made usually on a weekly basis, however we will try to accommodate your personal circumstances if it is possible.
There is no set time limit as everyone has individual needs and our counsellors will work at your pace.
In order to make the service as accessible as possible Moving On Ayrshire offers counselling at a number of locations throughout South Ayrshire. Both NHS Ayrshire and Arran and South Ayrshire Council allow us to use their premises where reception staff are trained to respect confidentiality.
